(Madrid).- The Minister of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030, Pablo Bustinduy, considered this “urgent” time to work to “mitigate” the “possible harmful effects” of the game and abogó by “reinforcing” the “protection” of users.
“As I defended it during my first appearance at the Commission of Social Rights and Consumption of the Congress of Representatives, in which I intervened in my own petition and from PP and Vox, with the objective of informing about the general lines of policy of the department in the present legislature, as well as the Mixed Group to expose the proposals that respond “especially” to the demands of the Canary Islands.”
In his speech, the holder of Social Rights, Consumption and Agenda 2030 considered it “vital to regulate access to gaming” which, in his opinion, “can lead to great risks, especially in early ages”.
In this context, he advanced that, among other initiatives, his department will propose a set of random reward mechanisms in video games, bot boxes and similar devices.
In this regard, he warned that other systems could be “inadvertent” in video games, but “contain elements equivalent to gambling games”. For this reason, he considered it “necessary to protect minors”, in order to “prevent” the “activation” of this type of systems.
“This line of action to guarantee a safe game is a priority for our minister”, he stated, while insisting that to “strengthen” the “protection” of consumers in this area and “mitigate” the “possible harmful effects” of this activity is an “urgent task”.
For all that, he advanced that his office had planned to “develop” the Law of Game Regulation by “adaptating it to the current digital environment” and “introducing” a system of joint deposit limits per player, as, in short, “establishes the German model".
